Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871) was the founder of the first indigenous religious congregations for men (CMI-1831) and for women (CMC-1866) of the Syro - Malabar Church. He was a man of God and reformer of the 19th century Kerala Church and society. As a holy and literary man, his life and writings significantly motivated many in their spiritual journey.

Chavara Central Secretariat is a joint venture of the CMI and CMC congregations for spreading the messages of their founder and to promote his devotions among the people. Here is a website in the name of Blessed Chavara to provide more and more informations about the heroic son of India, a pearl truly Indian.
