Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871)
was the founder of the
first indigenous religious congregations for men (CMI-1831) and for
women (CMC-1866) of the Syro - Malabar Church. He was a man of God and
reformer of the 19th century Kerala Church and society. As a holy and
literary man, his life and writings significantly motivated many in
their spiritual journey.
Chavara Central Secretariat is a joint
venture of the CMI and CMC congregations for spreading the messages of
their founder and to promote his devotions among the people. Here is a
